Successful Party Dessert- Lemon and white chocolate mousse parfaits with strawberries
Aug 12, 2009 Desserts, Strawberries, White Chocolate
As Molly thought about what dessert she was going to serve at her party Friday night, she thought about all the different ingredients she had that might spark some creativity. She found whipping cream, a white chocolate bar, and a lemon. Flipping through her April issue of Bon Appetit she found a recipe for Lemon and White Chocolate Mousse Parfaits. “What a great idea!” She thought. “If only I some nice cups I could put this fancy dessert in.”
As she spun around in her kitchen she gasped when she saw the solution to her dilema, “Look at all these empty glasses!” She exclaimed. “Now I can make this wonderful dessert!”

“The first thing I need to do is make some lemon mousse and white chocolate mousse, then it’s off to the layering! First step is lemon mousse.”

“Hmm… that looks good. Good thing I have all these beautiful strawberries lying around!”

“First I’ll slice them up….”

“… and then I’ll put them on top of the lemon mousse.”

“After all those strawberries nothing sounds better than white chocolate. White chocolate and lemon together sounds a little risky… but Bon Appetit promised it would be good. I think I’ll trust them.

“The glasses still have lots of room in them. I guess I’ll throw in more strawberries!”

“Another dollop of lemon mousse…”

“What was that? More strawberries? Ok…”

“And I’ll go ahead and top it off with the rest of the white chocolate. Now it’s off to the fridge with you overnight! Sleep well Lemon and White Chocolate Mosse Parfaits!”

I thought this dessert looked great in the magazine, but as I started making it I got a little nervous. For some reason it just didn’t look right, and I thought it was going to taste way too lemony or strange for some reason. But when I took them out at the party everyone loved them, and they were gone in about 15 minutes! This was a perfect way to use sweet summer strawberries in a way that everyone will love! Enjoy!

Molly I know now you are definitely related to me. I love fancy things like that. Once I made 60 hydrengias (out of a ballon cupcake pan) filled them with rasberry and decorated each one individually on a plate to serve at Caryn’s shower. IT looked great.
IT is all in the presentation. As I tell Terry, when I put parsley on his plate since I have is growing in the yard.
Food don’t you love it. I have always loved making things.
Ask your dad about the lemonaide he use to stop for at my house during his summer job. Many years ago.

Haha, Ok I’ll ask him. I bet it was something fancy!
There is definitely something about a good presentation that makes food even taste better.
