About MollyCookie
My entire life I’ve really loved two things: writing and food. This blog is really just an opportunity for me to merge the two. As time goes on I’ll write about my favorite recipes, restaurants, kitchen gadgets, and other food related things. Keeping up this blog is one of my favorite hobbies, and I hope you enjoy reading about my experiences with food and cooking!
A little bit about Me:
I’m 26 years old and I spent I’ve spent the last several years blogging, loving life, and trying to figure out what I’m supposed to do as a profession. In college I decided I needed to have a major that would land me a good job, although all I ever really wanted to do was to be a writer. After years of switching majors several times and a few years of different jobs I ended up with a degree I don’t use and experience in fundraising, a field I’m not really interested in. Lately I’ve been working for my sister’s small business which has been really great. I’ve learned a little bit about business and every day when I come home I have the emotional energy to spend time with my husband, Brian, and to think about my writing. My biggest project lately has been developing a plan for a novel, which hopefully I’ll have written soon which will mean I’ve accomplished the biggest goal of my life. In the mean time, I’m writing about food here and loving every minute of it.
Some of my favorite things:
Music: Missy Higgins, Counting Crows, The Weepies, The Killers, Waterdeep, Regina Spektor, Remy Zero, Maria Mena, Tori Amos, and the Counting Crows (just to name a few).
Movies: Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday, Gladiator, Up, Little Women, 500 Days of Summer, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Books: I love the Twilight Series, Harry Potter, Wicked, and other fantasy stories involving heros and evil villains.
Days: Wednesday and Sunday are my two favorite days. On Wednesdays I get to see some of my favorite girls at a Bible Study I’ve been a part of for the past several years. Sundays are always my day off work and the day I spend time with Brian and plan out my cooking expeditions for the week.
People you’ll hear about on this blog:
This is my husband Brian. We met about 7 years ago and started dating in August 2007. We got married in November 2008 and I love being his wife. We like to watch movies and love Sci-Fi TV shows like Fringe and Lost. He works at a pretty cool place that makes medical scopes and likes to read, eat, and spend time with his family. You’ll hear about him a lot.
This is my brother Timmy and my sister Christy. Timmy is in college and will probably end up curing cancer or working for NASA someday because he’s super smart. Christy owns her own business and doubles as my boss, and she has a gorgeous daughter named Toni who you’ll also hear about a lot.
Here are my parents, Kathy and Tim. They taught me everything I know about cooking and being a decent human being. They live in the same town as me and I love going to their house and eating the wonderful things they cook. They have a wonderful garden in their back yard where I can always get all the basil I could ever want. Most of the things I talk about on this website are tricks that they taught me.
This is Toni, my awesome, beautiful, super fun niece. She is Pocahontas in the picture, but she is also often Jasmine, Belle, Hannah Montana, and other fun characters that she sees in movies. Someday she will probably be an actress or a clothes designer. Keep an eye out for her line, it’s going to be very colorful.
These are my in laws. First of all, I want to explain that the reason I’m not in this picture is because it was taken before the wedding and before Brian saw me that day. I think they like me enough to take a picture with me… I think.
This is one of my best friends, Jessica, who has a degree from the Culinary Institute of America and is a pastry chef. She is AMAZING at making all kinds of desserts and has been as long as I’ve known her, which has been since 7th grade. I will often post tips that she has taught me and talk about her in stories.
This is my other best friend (yes I have two), Erin. We have been really close since our junior year of high school, and Brian and I love hanging out with Erin and her husband Matt.
And this is Matt. Don’t worry, the Iron isn’t on. Matt is an art teacher and is an amazing artist. I love going to their house and seeing his new latest painting or drawing. He does posters for bands and all kinds of awesome art. Some day I’m going to ask him to illustrate a book I’ve written…. as soon as I actually get one written.
These are some of my favorite people in the world. Here you see Grace, Rachel, Melissa, Lindsay, me, Erin, and Melody. We are in a Bible Study together every Wednesday night. They are often the test subjects of desserts that I make. I love these girls so much.
This is Kylie and her husband Chris. Kylie is my longest lasting friend, and she is also the most fun person I know. Chris is a wonderful guy and they got married exactly 3 weeks before Brian and I did. Kylie’s wedding is also the most amazing wedding I’ve ever been to, and I’m fairly certain that I will never, ever attend one that could possibly top it. Her parents are my parent’s best friends and I think I’ve eaten more meals with her family than anyone else I know.
This is my friend Melissa and her soon-to-be husband Jeff. Jeff and Melissa are perfect for each other and Brian and I love being their friends. They are the kind of friends who will come over for dinner and try our experiments. Melissa is a teacher and Jeff is an electrician. They are wonderful friends. We love them.
Last but not least is the third girl from the left, Lindsay. She is one of the kindest, most honest people I know and I love sitting down and having long chats with her. I’m sure from time to time I’ll post something insightful that was inspired by something that she said. Isn’t she gorgeous? She’s a really great friend.
